Divorce (Perea?)
| MAT 19:1 And it came about that when Jesus had
finished these words, He departed from Galilee, and came into the region of Judea beyond
the Jordan; MAT 19:2 and great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there. MAT 19:3 ¶ And some Pharisees came to Him, testing Him, and saying, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause at all?"
|
MAR 10:1 And rising up, He went from there to the
region of Judea, and beyond the Jordan; and crowds gathered around Him again, and,
according to His custom, He once more began to teach them. MAR 10:2 ¶ And some Pharisees came up to Him, testing Him, and began to question Him whether it was lawful for a man to divorce a wife. MAR 10:3 And He answered and said to them, "What did Moses command you?" MAR 10:4 And they said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away." MAR 10:5 But Jesus said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. MAR 10:6 "But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. MAR 10:7 "For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, MAR 10:8 and the two shall become one flesh; consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. MAR 10:9 "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." MAR 10:10 And in the house the disciples began questioning Him about this again.
MAR 10:11 And He said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another
woman commits adultery against her; |
Like Little Children
| MAT 19:13 ¶ Then some children were brought to
Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. MAT 19:14 But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
MAT 19:15 And after laying His hands on them, He departed from there. |
MAR 10:13 ¶ And they were bringing children to
Him so that He might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. MAR 10:14 But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, "Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. MAR 10:15 "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all." MAR 10:16 And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands upon them. |
LUK 18:15 ¶ And they were bringing even their
babies to Him so that He might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began
rebuking them. LUK 18:16 But Jesus called for them, saying, "Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. LUK 18:17 "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all." |
Riches
| MAT 19:16 ¶ And behold, one came to Him and
said, "Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?" MAT 19:17 And He said to him, "Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." MAT 19:18 He said to Him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; MAT 19:19 Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself. " MAT 19:20 The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?" MAT 19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." MAT 19:22 But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieved; for he was one who owned much property. MAT 19:23 ¶ And Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
MAT 19:24 "And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye
of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
MAT 19:30 "But many who are first will be last; and the last, first. |
MAR 10:17 ¶ And as He was setting out on a
journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and began asking Him, "Good
Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" MAR 10:18 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. MAR 10:19 "You know the commandments, 'Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do
not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.'"
MAR 10:26 And they were even more astonished and said to Him, "Then who can be
saved?"
MAR 10:29 Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or
brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the
gospel's sake, |
LUK 18:18 ¶ And a certain ruler questioned Him,
saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" LUK 18:19 And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.
LUK 18:20 "You know the commandments, 'Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do
not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.'"
LUK 18:26 And they who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?" LUK 18:27 But He said, "The things impossible with men are possible with
God."
LUK 18:29 And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left
house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, |
Landowner and his hired workers - Matthew 20:1-16
Prediction of the Resurrection (road to Jerusalem)
| MAT 20:17 ¶ And as Jesus was about to go up to
Jerusalem,
He took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and on the way He said to them, |
MAR 10:32 ¶ And they were on the road, going up
to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who
followed were fearful. And again He took the twelve aside and began to tell them what was
going to happen to Him, MAR 10:33 saying, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and will deliver Him to the Gentiles. MAR 10:34 "And they will mock Him and spit upon Him, and scourge Him, and kill Him, and three days later He will rise again." |

Seek to Serve, Not Be Served
| MAT 20:20 ¶ Then the mother of the sons of
Zebedee came to Him with her sons, bowing down, and making a request of Him. MAT 20:21 And He said to her, "What do you wish?" She said to Him, "Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right and one on Your left." MAT 20:22 But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you are asking for. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?"
MAT 20:24 And hearing this, the ten became indignant with the two brothers. |
MAR 10:35 ¶ And James and John, the two sons of
Zebedee, came up to Him, saying to Him, "Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever
we ask of You." MAR 10:36 And He said to them, "What do you want Me to do for you?" MAR 10:37 And they said to Him, "Grant that we may sit in Your glory, one on Your right, and one on Your left." MAR 10:38 But Jesus said to them, "You do not know what you are asking for. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?" MAR 10:39 And they said to Him, "We are able." And Jesus said to them, "The cup that I drink you shall drink; and you shall be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized. MAR 10:40 "But to sit on My right or on My left, this is not Mine to give; but it is for those for whom it has been prepared." MAR 10:41 And hearing this, the ten began to feel indignant with James and John. MAR 10:42 And calling them to Himself, Jesus said to them, "You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them. MAR 10:43 "But it is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; MAR 10:44 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. MAR 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." |
Blind Bartimaeus (Jericho)
| MAT 20:29 ¶ And as they were going out from
Jericho, a great multitude followed Him.
MAT 20:30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing
by, cried out, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"
|
MAR 10:46 ¶ And they came to Jericho. And as He
was going out from Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, a blind beggar named
Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road.
MAR 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and
say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" |
LUK 18:35 ¶ And it came about that as He was
approaching Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting by the road, begging. LUK 18:36 Now hearing a multitude going by, he began to inquire what this might be.
LUK 18:41 "What do you want Me to do for you?" And he said, "Lord, I
want to regain my sight!" |
