Jesus' Final Discourses With His Apostles
From Temple to Mt. of Olives
| MAT 24:1 And Jesus came out from the temple and
was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. MAT 24:2 And He answered and said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here shall be left upon another, which will not be torn down." MAT 24:3 ¶ And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" |
MAR 13:1 And as He was going out of the temple,
one of His disciples said to Him, "Teacher, behold what wonderful stones and what
wonderful buildings!" MAR 13:2 And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another which will not be torn down." MAR 13:3 ¶ And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately, MAR 13:4 "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?" |
LUK 21:5 ¶ And while some were talking about the
temple, that it was adorned with beautiful stones and votive gifts, He said, LUK 21:6 "As for these things which you are looking at, the days will come in
which there will not be left one stone upon another which will not be torn down."
LUK 21:7 And they questioned Him, saying, "Teacher, when therefore will these things be? And what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?" |
Be Not Misled...Beginning of Birth Pangs (Mt. of Olives)
| MAT 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them,
"See to it that no one misleads you. MAT 24:5 "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. MAT 24:6 "And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. MAT 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. MAT 24:8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. MAT 24:9 "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations on account of My name.
|
MAR 13:5 And Jesus began to say to them, "See to it that no one misleads you. MAR 13:6 "Many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He!' and will mislead many. MAR 13:7 "And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end. MAR 13:8 "For nation will arise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there
will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely
the beginning of birth pangs. MAR 13:9 ¶ "But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to the courts, and
you will be flogged in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for
My sake, as a testimony to them.
but the one who endures to the end, he shall be saved. |
LUK 21:8 And He said, "See to it that you
be not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and, 'The time is at
hand'; do not go after them. LUK 21:13 "It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony. |
Abomination of Desolation
| MAT 24:15 ¶ "Therefore when you see the
abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the
holy place (let the reader understand), MAT 24:16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains;
MAT 24:23 "Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He
is,' do not believe him. |
MAR 13:14 ¶ "But when you see the
abomination of desolation standing where it should not be (let the reader understand),
then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
MAR 13:21 "And then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ'; or,
'Behold, He is there'; do not believe him; |
LUK 21:24 and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all
the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of
the Gentiles be fulfilled. |
Coming of the Son of Man
| MAT 24:29 ¶ "But immediately after the
tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,
and the stars will fall from the sky,
|
MAR 13:24 ¶ "But in those days, after that
tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, MAR 13:25 and the stars will be falling from heaven,
and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. |
LUK 21:25 ¶ "And there will be signs in
sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the
roaring of the sea and the waves, |

when its branch has already become tender, and puts forth its leaves, you know that
summer is near. |
LUK 21:28 "But when these things begin to
take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing
near." LUK 21:29 ¶ And He told them a parable: "Behold the fig tree and all the trees; LUK 21:30 as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near. LUK 21:31 "Even so you, too, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near. LUK 21:32 "Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place. LUK 21:33 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. |
Be on the Alert
|
MAT 24:42 "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is
coming. |
MAR 13:33 ¶ "Take heed, keep on the alert;
for you do not know when the appointed time is. MAR 13:34 "It is like a man, away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert. MAR 13:35 "Therefore, be on the alert-- for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, at cockcrowing, or in the morning-- MAR 13:36 lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. MAR 13:37 "And what I say to you I say to all, 'Be on the alert!'" |
LUK 21:34 ¶ "Be on guard, that your hearts
may not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and
that day come on you suddenly like a trap; LUK 21:35 for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. LUK 21:36 "But keep on the alert at all times, praying in order that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man." |

and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize Him by stealth, and
kill Him;
|
LUK 21:37 ¶ Now during the day He was teaching
in the temple, but at evening He would go out and spend the night on the mount that is
called Olivet. LUK 21:38 And all the people would get up early in the morning to come to Him in the temple to listen to Him. LUK 22:1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.
LUK 22:2 And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death; for they were afraid of the people. |
Judas' Agreement
| MAT 26:14 ¶ Then one of the twelve, named Judas
Iscariot,
|
|
LUK 22:3 ¶ And Satan entered into Judas who was
called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve. LUK 22:4 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them. LUK 22:5 And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. LUK 22:6 And he consented, and began seeking a good opportunity to betray Him to them apart from the multitude. |
Preparation for Passover
| MAT 26:17 ¶ Now on the first day of Unleavened
Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?"
MAT 26:18 And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him,
'The Teacher says," My time is at hand; I am to keep the Passover at your house
with My disciples. "'"
MAT 26:19 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the
Passover. |
MAR 14:12 ¶ And on the first day of Unleavened
Bread, when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, His disciples said to Him, "Where
do You want us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?" MAR 14:13 And He sent two of His disciples, and said to them,
|
LUK 22:7 ¶ Then came the first day of Unleavened
Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.
LUK 22:8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us,
that we may eat it." |
Beginning of Passover Meal (Upper Room, Jerusalem)
| MAT 26:20 ¶ Now when evening had come, He was
reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. |
MAR 14:17 ¶ And when it was evening He came with
the twelve. |
LUK 22:14 ¶ And when the hour had come He
reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. LUK 22:15 And He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; LUK 22:16 for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. " |

Identifying the Betrayer
| MAT 26:21 And as they were eating, He said,
"Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me."
MAT 26:23 And He answered and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is
the one who will betray Me. |
MAR 14:18 And as they were reclining at the table and eating, Jesus said, "Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me-- one who is eating with Me." MAR 14:19 They began to be grieved and to say to Him one by one, "Surely not I?"
MAR 14:20 And He said to them, |
LUK 22:21 "But behold, the hand of the one
betraying Me is with Me on the table. LUK 22:22 "For indeed, the Son of Man is going as it has been determined; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!" LUK 22:23 And they began to discuss among themselves which one of them it might be who was going to do this thing. |
JOH 13:21 ¶ When Jesus had said this, He became
troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, that one of
you will betray Me."
So when He had dipped the morsel, He took and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon
Iscariot.
JOH 13:27 And after the morsel, Satan then entered into him. Jesus therefore said to
him, "What you do, do quickly." |

| LUK 22:31 ¶ "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan
has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; LUK 22:32 but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers. " LUK 22:33 And he said to Him, "Lord, with You I am ready to go both to prison and to death!" LUK 22:34 And He said, "I say to you, Peter, the cock will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me." LUK 22:35 ¶ And He said to them, "When I sent you out without purse and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?" And they said, "No, nothing." LUK 22:36 And He said to them, "But now, let him who has a purse take it along, likewise also a bag, and let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one. LUK 22:37 "For I tell you, that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, 'And He was numbered with transgressors'; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment." LUK 22:38 And they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough." |
JOH 13:36 ¶ Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord,
where are You going?" Jesus answered, "Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but
you shall follow later." JOH 13:37 Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You." JOH 13:38 Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, a cock shall not crow, until you deny Me three times. |

pray." MAT 26:37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed. MAT 26:38 Then He said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me." MAT 26:39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying,
"My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but
as Thou wilt."
MAT 26:40 And He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,
"So, you men could not keep watch with Me for one hour? |

My will, but Thine be done." |
